40 Watt turned Road Dogs for a week in March with gigs ranging from LA to San Diego, Phoenix, Tempe, Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos. Getting to socal was half the battle. The grapevine and the tehachapi pass were both closed because of snow....yes snow. Club Good Hurt was great, lots of new friends, a guy on the dancefloor looked just like Cantiflas. Metaphor Cafe was a bit sparce in attendance. I guess when it rains in Escondido nobody knows how to react. They're used to sunny and 80 everyday so when a few drops fall people think the sky is falling and stay in doors at all costs. Some of us partied hard to compensate. Rick got home at about 5:30am and we left about 6:30am to take the 6 hr drive to Phoenix and rock Zia Records to a crowd of music lovers. That night we headed over to Tempe and played our set at The Sets. That is where the heavy pool action began. Some bands chase girls, others do lines, others do lines off of girls. 40 Watt hits the sticks any chance we get. More on that later. One of our fans well.. superfan drove from Fresno to Phoenix to check out our show, we let her make the set list and chose our songs. If you drive 8 hrs to see us you can do the same. Next was Albuquerque, the town most featured on "Cops"...enough said. Next was Santa Fe, NM at the El Paseo Bar&Grill. Santa Fe is a dope little town, adobe architecture everyone, very stylish. The people were great, hopefully we'll be back soon. After Santa Fe was Taos, NM at the Taos Ski Resort. They treat us so well out there we love playing at the Martini Tree Bar. I highly recomend checking out this beautiful part of the country. We stayed in a huge condo with a big buffalo head on the wall that looked at you no matter where you were in the room. We chilled and played spades before we headed down to the club. 16 hr drive home wasn't too bad, good cds and conversation make time fly. Oh for the record awall topped the pool charts with a record of 18-10 and rick was a close second....just for the record.
